Core Studies

Dravis Geological Services specializes in analyzing conventional core for depositional facies and cyclicity and relating potential reservoir units to an environmental setting and stratigraphic position. In most projects, these observations are tied to wireline logs and seismic data. When combined with thin section petrography, reservoir quality can be precisely defined, including documentation of pore types and their influence on the petrophysical characteristics of the potential reservoir rock.

Core descriptions are presented in a graphical form using a program called AppleCore

Cuttings Analysis

While conventional cores may not be available, much geological information can be gleaned from the petrographic analysis of well cuttings, especially when closely-spaced samples are examined in thin section and related back to wireline logs.

This approach has been successfully used to delineate depositional facies, regional physiographic setting, reservoir quality, and diagenetic history in both limestone and dolomite sequences.
